KNIGHTS ADD COLOR TO PATRIOTIC CONCERT

On Friday evening, June 30th, the Church of the Resurrection choirs presented a patriotic program in word and song that was absolutely stirring, to say the least. Under the direction of music director, Ms. Connie Venti, performances were given by soloists and the adult, youth and children's choirs. The posting and retiring of the national ensign and papal flag were the purview of our color corps under the leadership of Color Corps Commander, P.F.N. Vince Ventrella. Participating were P.F.N.s Jules Schexnayder Sr., Ed Scheer, Paul Van Bergen and S.K. Paul LeCocq.

A recent project was to place an "El Camino Real" bell at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Centre City Parkway in downtown Escondido.

The plaque reads:

FR. JEREMIAH MURPHY FOURTH DEGREE ASSEMBLY #2311
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
DEDICATES THIS BELL IN THE YEAR 1999
IN COMMEMORATION OF THE TRAVELS OF
FATHER JUNIPERO SERRA
EARLY PIONEER AND SETTLER IN CALIFORNIA

When St. Mary's Catholic church in Escondido was being refurbished,
the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus removed the old pews and carried them to the Pala Mission.
